Splitting Up ChristmasI hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. For the first time in my life, I wasn't home on Christmas morning this year; pretty weird, that. But the prospect of spending the day alone in a big empty house just didn't seem all that appealing, so I went up to my cousin Nora's place in Connecticut and spent the weekend with her family. Her kids are like nieces and nephew to me, so it was good to be around family. We spent Christmas Eve with some neighbors and Christmas Day with Nora's in-laws, so it was a little strange being the odd man out. But like I said, it was better than being home alone. At least I had someplace to go, and that's more than a lot of people have at the holidays. I still haven't seen my brother, his wife, and their kids - my real niece and nephew - so hopefully there's a second Christmas in the offing; at least a chance to exchange presents and see some happy faces.
This is a pretty quiet week as far as shows go, but I will be hosting on New Year's Eve at CBGB, at what will almost certainly be the last New Year's Eve party ever at the old dump. On the bill are the Artkore crew from Hoboken - High Speed Chase, Butterspy, Crewman #6, and a few surprises. Hopefully if things run on time, I'll get to do a couple of songs. And my friend Lucy from Atlanta GA is coming to visit.
January should fly by - I have a couple of shows booked, the new Jersey Beat will finally be coming out, and then on January 19, I'm off to Las Vegas for the BYO Punk Rock Bowling Tournament.
So happy holidays, happy new year, and happiness wherever you can find it. I'll see you in '06.
